calling all explorers

We are recruiting use-inspired biogeochemists to build a better future.

Life in the EBG lab

We are a vibrant group of enthusiastic scientists who work on research questions we find interesting and important for society - from our local communities to the global scale. We support one another as whole people and honor one another's interests outside of science. We enjoy humor, play, and coffee.

In science, we push the frontier of understanding how people are changing global biogeochemical cycles. We are inclusive in our methodological approaches and are continually learning new techniques, as they pertain to our study questions. The success of our research in informing action is rooted in partnerships that we have developed over decades with farmers, policy makers, and stakeholders.

Opportunities to join

GRaduate Students

We are looking for motivated students who are committed to use-inspired biogeochemical research. Students must have a background in STEM and an interest in developing their technical and writing skills. After having an initial conversation with Dr. Hinckley, graduate students apply to the Dept. of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EBIO). Dr. Hinckley will recruit one new Ph.D. student for Fall 2025.

Undergraduate Students

We are looking for both undergraduate research assistants and honors thesis students. Honors students must be excited to try their hands at independent research (with our guidance, of course!) and willing to put in the time to do high-quality work. All backgrounds and experiences should apply, but students must want to undertake a project that fits within the realm of our current research. Dr. Hinckley will discuss potential opportunities for undergraduate students beginning in Fall 2024.

Postdoctoral Researchers

Dr. Hinckley is not recruiting postdoctoral researchers at this time. Stay tuned for future opportunities!
